Trust the independent standard

The UMF® mark that appears on Comvita honey is issued by an independent body set up to protect the integrity of Manuka honey – the UMF Honey Association of New Zealand (UMFHA).

Every batch of Comvita UMF Manuka honey is independently analysed and certified for quality, purity and authenticity by the UMF Honey Association.

As well as regular monitoring, the UMF Honey Association also conducts random sampling to ensure Manuka honey carrying the UMF® mark is certified, true to label and can be trusted.

UMF and MGO ratings compared

Three signature compounds measured

Only the UMF® testing process measures all three signature compounds, Leptosperin, DHA and Methylglyoxal (MGO), that together indicate high quality, authentic Manuka honey – while other systems measure only one or two. This process gives you a much more comprehensive and assured view of what’s in your honey.

We cannot guarantee the accuracy of other systems of measurement, but here’s an approximate MGO vs UMF conversion guide:

UMF5+ Manuka honey has a minimum MGO rating of 83, equal to a minimum UMF rating of 5.

UMF10+ Manuka honey has a minimum MGO rating of 261, equal to a minimum UMF rating of 10.

UMF15+ Manuka honey has a minimum MGO rating of 514, equal to a minimum UMF rating of 15.

UMF18+ Manuka honey has a minimum MGO rating of 692, equal to a minimum UMF rating of 18.
