As part of Comvita’s Timeless Wellness program, ex Australian sprinter, Bachelor of Sport & Exercise, Trainer and host of Better For It podcast, Katie Williams, shares her healthy habits she is implementing this winter to keep her motivated and on top of her health and wellbeing.

Inspired by an ancient quote “I must dare, whether I succeed or fail” by Euripides, Katie Williams talks about how failure doesn’t need to be perceived in a negative way and how to maintain your mind, body and soul this winter. Her top habits include:

1. Meditation

Meditation is a great way to improve is energy, concentration and focus whilst helping to reduce signs of anxiety, stress and fatigue. Transcendental meditation is a really powerful form of tapping into what your body and mind needs, helping you with resilience and allowing you to stay calm in uncomfortable situations.

2. Digital Detox

It’s important to use technology, especially social media, wisely and get off platforms that aren’t serving you. Social media should be used to educate, inspire, motivate, empower and make you feel good. Aim to do a digital detox 1-2 days a week and start to set boundaries with technology, for example don’t use your phone for 30 minutes after you wake up and 30 minutes before you go to bed.

3. Podcasts

Podcasts are a great way to find information by experts that are backed up by science, they are generally free and an easy way to learn quick information, educate yourself and be motivated.

4. Motivation

The internet is a very useful place to source motivation, whether it be your favourite playlist, motivational quotes or finding an inspiring speaker on YouTube. Collecting quotes that inspire you will help you to remind yourself why you are doing something and give yourself a mini pep talk to keep going.

5. Journaling

Journaling is a great way to set your intention for the day. Ask yourself three questions:

1. What would make today great?

2. What are the things that I am grateful for?

3. Affirmation. Use the “I am” statement inspire and empower yourself. e.g. “I am strong” “I am in control of my life”. Journaling is a powerful way to show change and become more aware of your actions.

6. Exercise and recovery

Movement is essential and our body craves it, for its role in improving mental clarity, reducing brain fog, improving health, and guiding a sense of self and wellbeing. Exercise can make you feel confident and resilient, helping you grow and making you feel strong mentally and physical. Whether its 5 minutes a day of stretching, or an hour of kickboxing, it’s important to get out and get moving.

7. Antioxidants
